Shadow of Reality Terms of Use
Last updated: 19 September 2026
Shadow of Reality is an Android app with a feed of images made by artificial intelligence (AI). These Terms explain how to use it, what you can and can’t post, and what happens when the rules are broken.
How we handle your data is covered in our Privacy Policy.
“We” means the Shadow of Reality project, run by its developer in Ukraine. “You” means anyone who uses the app.
What Shadow of Reality is
It’s a vertical feed of AI-generated art and nothing else. In the app you can:
- generate images from a text description (a prompt), with an optional style preset;
- upload art you generated elsewhere;
- publish it to the shared feed or keep it private;
- like art, comment on it and reply to comments, and follow authors;
- report content, block users and hide 18+ content.
The app isn’t on Google Play. You download it as an APK from shadowofreality.fun, and it updates itself from our server.
It’s an early beta, so some things may not work as intended.
Who can use it
- Adults only. When you sign up, you confirm that you are 18 or older. If you aren’t, please don’t use the app. If we find out you are under 18, we may ban your account.
- Google sign-in only. There’s no other way to sign in. Anyone who can get into your Google account can also get into your Shadow of Reality account, so keep your Google account secure.
- Accepting the Terms. By signing up, you accept these Terms and the Privacy Policy.
Your profile and posts
- Your display name starts out as the name on your Google account, and you can change it. Your nickname must be unique. A bio and an avatar are optional.
- Your nickname, name, bio, avatar and follower and following counts are visible to everyone in the app.
- You can publish each piece of art to the shared feed or keep it private. Only you can see private art.
- Published art is visible to everyone in the app. Published art without the 18+ mark may also appear on the website (for example, through shared links) and be indexed by search engines.
- You can hide the prompt of anything you publish from other users.
- You can delete your own art and comments at any time. Deleting a comment also removes the replies to it.
For the details of who sees what, see the Privacy Policy.
Generating images
- Generation attempts are free. The first time you open the app each day, we add 10 attempts. Unused attempts build up to a maximum of 100.
- If a generation fails, you get the attempt back.
- Limits may change.
- Every prompt goes through an automatic safety filter, which refuses prohibited requests.
- Getting past the filter doesn’t make a result OK to publish. It still has to follow these Terms.
What’s not allowed
- Any sexual content involving minors or people who look like minors. No exceptions and no warnings: we ban the account immediately and report it to law enforcement.
- Sexualized or intimate images of real, identifiable people, and intimate images shared without the consent of the person shown.
- Deepfakes of real people made to deceive or harm.
- Content that promotes violence, terrorism, hatred or discrimination, and harassment.
- Anything illegal.
- Infringing other people’s intellectual property: for example, copying copyrighted characters or artworks for commercial misuse, or using other people’s trademarks.
- Spam and misleading content.
- Photos or other images that aren’t AI-generated. The feed is for AI art only.
- Trying to get around limits or filters, and automated access to the service (bots, scripts and the like).
An 18+ mark doesn’t make anything on this list acceptable.
18+ content
- Artistic 18+ content that doesn’t break these Terms is allowed, but only with the 18+ mark.
- Setting the mark is the author’s job.
- If 18+ art is posted without the mark, moderators may mark it themselves or remove it.
- In the app, 18+ art is shown only to people who have turned on “Show 18+ content”. It never appears on the website.
Reports and moderation
- You can report art, comments and users. You can also block anyone you don’t want to see.
- We may remove content and restrict or ban accounts that break these Terms, with or without notice where the law allows.
- Think we got it wrong? Email support@shadowofreality.fun and tell us why. We’ll take another look.
Your content and your rights
- You keep whatever rights you have in your prompts and images.
- When you publish art, you give Shadow of Reality a non-exclusive, free, worldwide license to store it and show it in the app, on the website, in previews of shared links, and on Shadow of Reality’s official social media (see below).
- The license lasts as long as the art stays published, and ends when you delete the art or your account. The exceptions are backups, where the data may remain for up to 14 days, and posts on our social media made earlier, which we’ll remove within 7 days if you ask.
- The legal status of AI-generated images differs from country to country, so we make no promises about copyright in them.
- You are responsible for how you use the images you generate.
Models and their licenses
Some of the models we use to generate images are released under open licenses that require attribution. You’ll find the list in the app under Settings → Licenses.
The service is provided “as is”
- We provide Shadow of Reality “as is”. It’s a beta, so features and limits may change.
- We may suspend the service or shut it down for good.
- We give no warranties, and our liability is limited to the extent the law allows.
Deleting your account
You can delete your account in the app at any time: Settings → Delete account. The account and everything linked to it are deleted immediately. Step-by-step instructions are on the account and data deletion page.
Changes to these Terms
- These Terms have a version number.
- We announce changes in the app.
- If a change is material, the app will ask you to accept the new version. If it doesn’t work for you, you can delete your account.
Governing law
These Terms are governed by the law of Ukraine.
